Editor's comment Hutchings et al (1991: 260) record the original name as Nereis (Perinereis) seurati, but this does not appear to be correct. Gravier (1905) names the taxon directly as Perinereis seurati [details]
Etymology "Nous dédions à M. G. Seurat [Léon Gaston Seurat, 1872-1949] qui a eu la bonne fortune de la découvrir aux îles Gambier, cette espèce nouvelle de Néréidien qui portera le nom Perinereis Seurati" (Gravier, 1905: 247). [details]
Habitat Freshwater pond, 50 cm deep max., in limestone mud; type material collected on the edge of this pond, under a very thin layer of water. [details]
Type locality Twenty meter long freshwater pond fed only by rain and separated from the sea by a strip of 100 to 150 m compact limestone, Tarauru-roa Island, east Mangareva Island, Gambier Islands, French Polynesia, Pacific Ocean (gazetteer estimate -23.1035°, -134.8652°). [details]
