Etymology Named for M. H. Coutière who had collected specimens from Djibouti in 1897 [details]
Publication date Though generally mentioned as 1905, the paper most probably was published 1906, hence the confusion 1905/1906 [details]
Spelling In 1905 Gravier used 'coutierei' named after M. H. Coutière, but in his repeat of the description in 1908 an error occurred and the species name was printed as Pomatoceropsis contierei. Unfortunately later authors tended to use this misspelling, including misspelling it further. As the original name is currently a synonym of Spirobranchus tetraceros, these mistaken usages may be seen listed under S. tetraceros. [details]
