Etymology Not stated. Most likely utilising the name of 5th century BCE Roman Republic statesman Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. All modern 'cincinnati' names primarily or secondarily derive from this person. Ehlers also recorded Thelepus cincinnatus (Fabricius) in the same work, and we can speculate this may have prompted him to use the name again. [details]
