Etymology The specific epithet occulta comes from the Latin word occultus, -a, -um, meaning hidden, concealed, and refers to the cryptic character of the species. [details]
Habitat Lower half of intertidal beach, in relatively coarse, extremely clean sand. [details]
Type locality Southwest Indian Ocean, Seychelles, Island of Mahé, east coast, Anse Forbans beach (4º47'S, 55º31'E), lower half of intertidal beach bordering an 180 m wide reef flat. [details]
Type material According to Westheide & Hass-Cordes (2001), the type material SMF 10010 includes three syntypes, while Fiege & Wehe (2004) refer the presence of only two. [details]
