Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet labiatus is a Latin adjective meaning 'having lips', and refers presumably to the big size of the lips of the species: "The inferior [tentacular cirri] are placed on each side of the prominent lips. [...] The great oral folds or lips project in front of the head when viewed from the dorsum" (McIntosh, 1885: 19). [details]
