Authority There is some past confusion over the authorship of the combination Phyllodoce lamelligera. It is clear it originated as Nereis lamelligera Gmelin in the 13th edition of Linnaeus (1788), less clear regarding a link to N. lamellifera Pallas (Gmelin cites Pallas). Also Johnston (1865), who reported previous records of the species from UK, is given the authorship in Fauvel, although this is nearly a century later and Johnston cites earlier works than his (but not Gmelin). McIntosh as usual gives an exhaustive synonymy. Pleijel (1991) appears not to include the name in his catalogue. [details]
