Freshwater ostracods (Crustacea: Ostracoda) of the genus Strandesia Vávra, 1895 from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

A total of 16 spp. and 1 ssp. of the genus Strandesia Vavra 1895 were collected from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Of these, 10 spp. (S. calapanensis, S. decorata, S. kraepelini, S. wiezerjskii, S. wolterecki, S. odiosa, S. purpurascens, S. sexpunctata, S. vittata and S. weberi) are previously known and 6 spp. and 1 ssp. are described as new (S. complexa, S. freyi, S. lineata, S. mamarilorum sumatrana, S. perakensis and S. umbonata). Redescriptions, illustrations and detailed remarks are given for the known species. Brief notes are given for 4 previously recorded species, not collected during this study. Currently, 20 spp. and 1 ssp. are known for this genus in the study area.
