Boxshall and Halsey (2004) rejected Willen’s (1996, 2000) views regarding the Donsiellinae Lang, 1944, and was considered as part of the Thalestridae. More recently, Wells (2007) accepted Donsiellinae as a subfamily of the Pseudotachidiidae. There is no consensus about the position and/or validity of this subfamily and the entire family is in urgent need of revision..
