Wilson 1924 drejected the nmae Thaumatopsyllus because it had been published by T. Scott 1894 as a synonym of the the harpacticoid genus Aegisthus. He proposed Thespesipsyllus as the replacement name for the preoccupied Thaumatopsyllus. Later Bomwan & Abele 1982 used Thaumatopsyulus because Scott T 1894 publication as a synonym does not make a name unavailable. [ICZN 11(d)]
