The bathyal ichthyofauna in the Catalan Sea has been preliminary studied by the Marca Research Project through three cruises performed on 1983 and 1984 over a transect line between Barcelona and the Balearic Islands. 24 fish species have been identified, belonging to 14 families. One species is quoted firstly for the Mediterranean (Lepidion guentheri), and other two (Coelorhynchus occa and Coryphaenoides mediterranea) for the Spanish Mediterranean. Through the paper some distributional patterns are analyzed.
