Introduced species remark New Zealand endemic. Fauvel recorded it from New Caledonia and India but these records are subsequently unverified. Its 'introduced' status to Turkey stems from an interpretation of a record by Rullier (1963:212) as Audouinia anchylochaeta for the Bosphorus. However, subsequently Çinar et al. (2005) and Çinar (2007) questioned the occurrence of T. anchylochaeta in Turkish waters or the Mediterranean Sea. Pancucci-Papadopoulou (2005) explicitly excluded any record of T. anchylochaeta as an alien from Hellenic waters. It seems likely the 'introduced species' status in the Mediterranean is mistaken, based on an outdated unreliable identification. [details]From regional or thematic species database
