Abstract
Mysis costata Holmes, 1900, later referred to the genus Acanthomysis, has frequently been confused not only with the species A. sculpta (W.M. Tattersall 1933) but also with A. davisi Banner, 1948. On the basis of an extensive mysid material from the northeastern Pacific, a revision of the species concerned has been possible. The specimens used for a re-description of Holmes's species (Tattersall 1932) proved not to be identical with this species, but with the species A. davisi. Based on morphological characters, a new genus was established, Holmesimysis, with H. costata (Holmes 1900) as type-species and including also H. sculpta (W.M. Tattersall 1933), H. nuda (Banner 1948), H. sculptoides sp. nov. and H. nudensis sp. nov. The possible geographical and ecological distribution of the genus and the species was discussed.
