Description Cells very variable in size (5–50 μm in length) and shape (round, oval, carrot-or sausage-shaped). Many chloroplasts (30–35 per cell). Nucleus elongated and anteriorly located. Numerous oval mucocysts, evenly distributed on the surface (Edvardsen et al., 2007).  [details]
