Fig. 20. 1-13. Alexina papyracea n. gen. n. sp. All specimens from the base of the Font de les Bagasses marls Fm, Clot d’Olsí, Montsech Mountains, Lleida, Northern Spain. Lower Santonian. Microspheric (1-7) and megalospheric (8-13) specimens. Sections of cemented rock, transmitted light micrographs at standart enlargement except 2. 1-2: axial section with detail showing reduced umbo and absence of any meandrine supplemental chamberlets. Note the single annular passage in equatorial position that occupies the total radial extention of the annulus. 3: oblique section with an inclination of about 45° in respect to the equatorial plane, showing the disposition of the septula in line from one chamber to the next. 4: section parallel to the shell axis and tangential to a septal face, showing the disposition of the radial foramina onthe septal face in two rows. 5: oblique section. Position of axial plane indicated by an arrow. 6: Transverse section in theoutermost annuli showing the keeled periphery to persist in adult stages of growth. Occasionally, the keel bears a supplementary median foramen. 7: oblique section inclined for about 20° in respect to the axial plane, showing the alignment of the septula in successive annular chambers and the alternating disposition of the septula within the same chamber. 8: oblique, almost centered specimen exhibiting a reduced umbo. 9, 11: axial sections. 10, 12: oblique sections. Arrow: position of shell radius relative to the section concerned. Abbreviations: f: foramen; k: keel; mf: median row of foramina; prp: annular passage; s: septum; sl: septulum; um: umbo; wh: whorl suture.
