Synonymy A.M. Clark (1989: 296) considered that even isolation of the genus Lethmaster to a subfamily was unjustified. Presence of a single cribiform organ corresponds to an early ontogenetic stage of Porcellanaster and suggests a neotenous origin, so a close relationship would be expected. [details]
