Nomenclature Pareulepidae is an unnecessary replacement name for Eulepethidae Chamberlin. Hartman placed Eulepethus Chamberlin, 1919 (replacement name for homonym Eulepis Grube, 1875) under the senior name, Pareulepis. However, an existing family name does not change because of a generic subjective synonymy. That would lead to unstable taxonomy. Later authors treat Eulepethus and Pareulepis as distinct. [details]
