This name, misspelled Sabanea, was used twice by Gray, 1847 [November], page 152 as a synonym of Cingula Fleming, 1818 with Turbo cingillus Montagu, 1803 as type, and page 159 as a synonym of Odostomia Fleming, 1813 with Turbo plicatus Montagu, 1803 as type [both originally included species]. Verduin (1976) designated Turbo cingillus as type species. [details]
