Remark When Pirlot (1936) described this taxon he only had a female and the specimen was mutilated. Important parts such as pereopods 6 and 7 and the third uropods were missing and the telson was not described. Sexually dimorphic characters are unknown. Consequently the diagnosis of the genus (Coxomaerella) established by Karaman, 1981 is incomplete. The genus may belong in Maeridae, but this is uncertain. For instance coxa 5 is not maerid-like and the anteroventral corner of the head has no notch/slit. [details]
