Nomenclature Jousseaume attributed the name Clava to Martyn [not available from Martyn 1784], and fixed as type species a species included by Martyn in his second volume published in 1786. For that reason, Pilsbry and Dall rejected Jousseaume's type species fixation. However, as Clava Martyn is not an available name, Clava Jousseaume is to be seen as the first availability of the name Clava, which Jousseaume used as a valid name, and with the type species fixed by him.
