Identification Gmelin (1791:3612) refers to Born (1780 auct.) plate 13, figure 7. That figure represents Born's specimen of Turritella exoleta (Linnaeus, 1758). As it is the only reference given by Gmelin for the taxon Turbo obsoletus, it is concluded to be synonymous to Turritella exoleta (Linnaeus, 1758). [details]
