Taxonomy According to the ICZN rules, one of the two varieties erected by Polejaeff has to be the typical variety, to be named Pericharax carteri carteri. This has so far been ignored by all authors dealing with this species. Furthermore, the var. heteroraphis has an unlikely wide distribution which needs further study. [details]
