Nomenclature Cernohorsky (1972:107) treated the species name tenebrosa as a synonym for Tonna galea (Linnaeus, 1758). The specimen shown on plate 30, fig. 1 to which he attributes that name, is a specimen of Tonna ampullacea (Philippi, 1845). [details]
