Ecology Western Australia, New South Wales, New Caledonia, New Britain, Solomon Islands: in seagrass litter, under rocks, under crab exuviae, under small logs - all littoral or on beach (Jones, 1998).Hawaii: Kure Is, Laysan, Pearl & Hermes Reef, Midway (Eastern Island, under driftwood on beach, Moloka' Island (3,200ft). Occurs primaily in littoral habitats and is beach dwelling throughout its range; thus it may have reached the Hawaiian Islands without human assistance (Bonato et al, 2004). The relative paucity of colonisers of these islands may, perhaps, have given this species the opportunity to expand into niches outside the strictly littoral. [details]
