Type locality Shark Bay and Oyster Harbour (Albany), Western Australia, Australia. The species was described by Augener (1913) based on about 40 specimens collected in 6 different stations during the Hamburger SW-Australien Expedition 1905, in Western Australia (Australia): sta. 3, Shark Bay, about 3 English miles NW Denham (geocoordinates estimate -25.895, 113.514), 3 m, sandy sediment with plants; sta. 7, Shark Bay, about 2.5 English miles SW Denham (geocoordinates estimate -26.0, 113.54), 3 m, sandy and muddy sediments with plants; sta. 19, Shark Bay, Useless Inlet, central channel (geocoordinates estimate -26.045, 113.345), 7 m, rocky substrate with dead corals; sta. 22, Shark Bay, Inner Bar, in the back of the Bank (geocoordinates estimate -26.023, 113.29), 6-9 m, coarse-grained sand and sand with plants; sta. 23, Shark Bay, entrance of South Passage (geocoordinates estimate -26.169, 113.226), 9 m, rocky substrate and stones; sta. 64, Oyster Harbour, Albany District (geocoordinates estimate -34.975, 117.96), 0.75-5.5 m, sandy and muddy sediments, in part cover by an oyster bank, in part by plants. Augener (1913) did not designate a type locality, and there are at least 11 syntypes deposited in the Zoologisches Museum Berlin from 3 stations (stations 3, 23, and 64). [details]
