"As far as I can judge from the description, L.willeyi described by Benham (1915) from Tasmania is identical with [Lepidonotus jacksoni; as redescribed by Augener, 1922]. It has bidentate neurochaetae. Given that it occurs in New Zealand, it would not be strange if L.jacksoni also occurred in Tasmania. Benham [in his discussion] synonymised L.carinulatus.-Willey 1905 [non Grube] of Ceylon and L.carinulatus of Potts 1910 from the Indian Ocean with L.willeyi from Tasmania, and may well be quite right in this synonymy."
