Type locality North Atlantic Ocean, Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Lucky Strike vent field (37º13'28''N, 32º19'25''W), 1600 m. According to Sigvaldadóttir & Desbruyères (2003) the holotype was collected during the Ifremer Cruise PICO of the submersible 'Nautile', dive PL 1267. According to the data provided by the Ifremer (Cruise PICO 1998), the details of this dive are as above. The data of the type locality of Prionospio asaccata as given by Sigvaldadóttir & Desbruyères (2003) seem to be erroneous. They are: "Mid-Atlantic Ridge, 37º17'18''N, 32º16'29''W, 1690 metres (''Tour Eiffel'' site on the Lucky Strike vent field)".  [details]
