Etymology The specific epithet parahebes is composed by the Greek prefix para-, meaning 'beside' or 'near', and the word hebes, specific epithet of the species Paedophylax hebes Webster & Benedict, 1884 and Latin adjective meaning 'blunt', 'dull' or 'not sharp or pointed', and refers to the similarity between the two species in what concerns the shape of the prostomium, the shape of composite chaetae, and the absence of dorsal cirri on the second chaetiger.
