The specific epithet curviseta is composed by the Latin adjective curvi, form of curvus and meaning 'curved' or 'bent', and the Latin noun seta, alternative form of chaeta and meaning 'bristle', and refers presumably to the shape of the posterior neurochaetae, consisting in a stout shaft narrowing suddenly to a long slender tip, with an abrupt curve or kink at the origin of the slender tip, when seen in lateral view.
