Homonymy Mandane Kinberg, 1866 was named twice by Kinberg, the first as a spionid genus (family 'Aonidea') for Mandane brevicornis, the second as an oligochaete genus for 3 oligochaetes, Mandane patagonica, M. litoralis, M. stagnalis. The first Mandane Kinberg, 1866 is also senior homonym to Mandane Karsch, 1880, named in Z. Naturw., 53, 377, which was an arachnid. The thus unavailable Mandane Karsch, 1860 was replaced by Mandaneta Strand, 1932. The second Mandane Kinberg, 1866 is also unavailable, and must be replaced. It apparently belongs in the Acanthodrilidae, as senior synonym to Acanthodrilus Perrier, 1872. Thus Acanthodrilus, as the next available synonym, becomes the valid genus for the three original Mandane oligochaetes of Kinberg, 1866 [details]
