Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Laubier (1974: 392): "Corps court, comprenant une vingtaine de segments, dépourvu de papilles, à l'exception de quelques papilles pédonculées au niveau des parapodes ; téguments transparents. Région céphalique constituée par un prostomium réduit, portant une paire de palpes et trois paires de branchies de taille inégale, et un segment buccal en forme de ventouse entourant la bouche ; région céphalique invaginable dans une capsule céphalique rigide développée en avant du premier segment sétigère. Parapodes biramés, chaque rame portant de longues soies sans cloisons transverses. Soies dorsales simples, à extrémité denticulée, soies ventrales composées, à hampe lisse et article denticulé. Entre les deux rames, quelques papilles sphériques portées sur un long pédoncule. Pygidium simple. Forme benthique.." [details]Diagnosis Emended diagnosis by Salazar-Vallejo et al. (2007: 469): ''Body cylindrical, tapering posteriorly. Cephalic hood well developed. Body papillae reduced; interparapodial papillae long, clavate. Notochaetae simple, neurochaetae compound; notochaetae with outer chaetal cortex with successive bands of denticles, neurochaetal handle smooth. Nuchal organs convoluted. Branchiae cirriform. Nephridial lobes lateral. Bathypelagic.'' [details]
