Comparison Differs from Sphenotrochus in having externally pitted theca and a conical corallum. [details]Diagnosis Corallum ceratoid, circular in cross section; GCD up to 3.5 mm; theca imperforate but externally pitted in an alternating manner; costae independent, smooth ridges, twice the number of septa near calice; septa hexamerally arranged in 2-4 cycles; pali absent; columella styliform or lamellar. [details]
Remark This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Forty-six species, only one of which is Recent, listed by Cairns (1997). [details]
