Status Lyman (1882) intended this to be a synonym of Ophioderma tonagan Lütken, 1872, but assigned his own name to it as authority. Ziesenhenne (1955) stated that it is not conspecific with Lütken's O. tongana, but a synonym of Ophioderma leonis, which today is a synonym of O. wahlbergii. Clark & Courtman-Stock (1976) assigned Lyman's specimen to O. appressa. Thus, the status of this name is still unclear. [details]
