Nomenclature Record Aphia 238313 indicates that Langerhans confusingly presented his new subgenera Haplosyllis and Typosyllis in the reverse order to the convention that subgenus in parenthesis follows genus. Here, when Langerhans had printed Haplosyllis (Syllis) hamata and Typosyllis (Syllis) krohnii, subgenus precedes genus which is in parenthesis. Noting Syllis is the senior name and cannot ever be a subgenus of either Haplosyllis or Typosyllis as apparently appears here. [details]
