Taxonomy Opinion of d'Hondt, Jean-Loup, not co-partaged par some colleagues, because the Giard's specimens are lost and not allowing a verification : it is a junior synonym of the marine species Halichaetonotus marinus (Giard, 19O4), the only species of Chaetonus up to now present and regularly collected in the characteristic local type-station, the "sables à diatomées d'Ambleteuse" [details]
