Taxonomy Cook & Bergquist, 2002 assigned this genus to the synonymy of Sarcotragus, but all four species mentioned under Dysidicinia by Lendenfeld are considered Ircinia species according to Hooper & Wiedenmayer, 1994. The latter indicated Polytherses longispina Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864 as type species. This is a clear synonym of Ircinia strobilina (Lamarck, 1814) and thus the junior synonymy of Dysidicinia is established as Ircinia. [details]
