Validity Hyatt’s name is not an available name (as it has a fourth name, ICZN art. 45.5). Hence, Von Lendenfeld's (1889: 269) assignment to Euspongia officinalis var. rotunda is likewise unavailable. Van Soest (2024: 29) proposed to assign this material from the Caribbean region to Spongia (Spongia) tubulifera Lamarck, 1814. in accordance with Wiedenmayer (1977: 55) and Van Soest (1978: 11). Topsent’s (1896) record from the W coast of France is puzzling. [details]
