Taxonomy Hooper & Wiedenmayer, 1994 transferred this to Haliclona, and since Chalina minor Row, 1911 is also a Haliclona, Dendy's name became a junior secondary homonym, for which the replacement name Haliclona pacifica was proposed. Despite the original Indian Ocean occurrence, the name pacifica was chosen because specimens from the Great Barrier Reef were considered conspecific with Dendy's material. [details]
