Trocholinopsis has an aragonitic conical test, wholly trochospiral, with pores on the spiral face along the spiral suture; the second chamber is half-tube-shaped, with a wide, low opening on the umbilical face, and has a sharp and wide peripheral keel.
Spirillina has a discoidal calcitic testa with an initial trochospiral or planospiral portion, while the final portion is planispiral; it has pores or pseudopores of limited distribution; the second chamber is tubular with a rounded or crescent-shaped aperture at the end of the tubular chamber, opening at the umbilical face.
