Synonymy Knox & Cameron (1998) placed Aglaophamus ornatus as a synonym of A. trissophyllus, but without explanation, which was intended to be published later in a never-published subsequent article by Knox. Hartman herself (1978) in her final Antarctic article did not record A ornatus from the Weddell Sea, only A. trissophyllus, so we do not know whether she would have agreed with this synonymy. Later workers seem not to have questioned this synonymy, although Sicinski & Gillet (2002) in a non-taxonomical work still used A. ornatus for a study of Crozet Island (southern Indian Ocean). [details]
