Nomenclature Lamprophaea is invalid as a changed spelling for Lamprophaes Grube, 1867. Salazar-Vallejo (2020) created this spelling as a claimed corrected spelling (for gender ending latinization) for Lamprophaes, citing Article 32.5.1. However, Article 32.5.1 explicitly rules out such 'corrections' for latinization. There is no evidence of an original lapsus calami (inadvertent error) in Grube's creation of Lamprophaes which would permit such a change. Also Grube used the same spelling twice subsequently and it appears in the original article title. See also notes on genus Lamprophaes for further details. As Lamprophaea is a deliberately changed spelling it is an unjustified emendation, and is an available invalid name that is a junior objective synonym of Lamprophaes (ICZN Article 33.2.3) [details]
