Authority McIntosh (1900) states he adopted as replacement name for the homonym Dasylepis a name a certain Canon Norman had used for a polynoid specimen. It is clear from the context that Norman did not otherwise contribute to McIntosh's evaluation of Acanthicolepis and content of the text, so attributing the authority of the text to 'Norman in McIntosh' as suggested by Barnich, Gil & Fiege (2000) and Barnich & Fiege (2010) is incorrect. McIntosh mentions Norman a number of times in his monograph as a collector and observer of Scandinavian material. The nature of a Canon Norman manuscript is otherwise unstated in McIntosh. [details]

Prostomium with distinct cephalic peaks and three antennae; lateral antennae inserted ventrally to median antenna; anterior pair of eyes dorsolateral on widest part of prostomium, posterior pair dorsal near hind margin of prostomium.
