Nomenclature Leach (1816) used Thalessema throughout the text (three times). Although Thalessema deemed to be a misspelling of Thalassema Pallas, 1774, it should be regarded as unjustified emendation of the latter name according to Art. 33.2.1 (ICZN 1999). Thalessema is thus available with its own author and date and is a junior objective synonym of Thalassema Pallas, 1774. [details]
