Three species previously unknown in Canarian waters are recorded, Neanthes fucata (Savigny, 1820), Ceratonereis vittata Langerhans, 1884 and Platynereis coccinea (delle Chiaje, 1841 ). Ceratonereis vittata, and juvenile specimens of Nereis funchalensis (Langerhans, 1880) are described. Neanthes rubicunda (Ehlers, 1868) is removed from synonymy with Neanthes irrorata (Malmgren, 1867). In addition, a key for the identification of the nereids of Canary Islands is included.
