Parasitesofculturedtigerpuffer,Takifugurubripes,produced ina hatchery,introducedtoa culturesitein NagasakiPrefecturein summer and culturedforone yearand a halfinnetcages,were examined bimonthly. Thirteenspeciesofparasiteswererecorded:ciliates,Trichodina fuguand T. jadranicaonthegills,Cryptocaryonirritan s inthefinsand body surface;myxosporeans,Kudoa shiomitsui intheheartand Multivalvulidagen.sp. (syn.:SeptemcapsulayasunagaiHsieh etChen,1984)in thebrain;monogeneans,Gyrodactylusrubripedissp.n. on the finsand body surfaceand Heterobothriumokamotoion thegillsand branchialcavitywall;trematodes, Tetrochetussp.and Maculiferpacificusintherectum;acanthocephalan,Longicollum pagrosomi theinrectum; copepods,Caligusfugu on the buccalcavitywall,Pseudocaligusfugu on thebody surfaceand Neobrachiella hugu(syn:Clavellopsis huguYamaguti,1939)on thebuccalcavitywall. Gyrodactylusrubripedissp.n.isdifferentfrom themost closelyrelatedG. pardalidissp.n.collectedfrom thefinsofpantherpuffer,Takifugupardalisand finespottedpuffer,T.poecilonotusinsmallersizeofhamuliand shapeofthemarginalhook proper;thetwo new gyrodactylidsaresimilartoonesfrom freshwaterfishofthegenus Noemacheilusinhavinginwardlybentrootofhamuli,butclearlyseparatedfrom them by theshapeoftheventral bar. In some selectedspeciesof parasites,seasonaloccurrencesaredescribedand ssiblesourcesofinfection arediscussed.
