Taxonomy Karaman (1984) stated Hellenis does not belong to Gammaridae but is closer to Bogidiellidae. Copilas & Ionesi (2024) have removed the species from the Macrohectopidae to incertae sedis within the Amphipoda until further analysis. [details]
