Ecology Species found in springs and riverbeds.
The species shows a high tropic position (-25.12±0.12 for δ13C and 7.23±0.32 for δ15N), closer to carnivorous animals than to herbi- or detritophagous animals in the general scheme of isotopic values of δ13C and δ15N for macrozoobenthos (Fig. 8). The possible predator relationships (shift) (δ13C enrichment for 1.0‰ and δ15N enrichment for 2.8‰) calculated for Niphargus bzhidik sp. nov., assumed that its food objects may be other crustaceans from this biotope (e.g., juveniles Asellus sp., N. cf. tauricus, G. komareki), as well as insect larvae and small bivalves. [details]
