Remark Crowe (2006) set up a neotype for L. spinicarpa and a new type locality but she made no attempt to resolve the many records of L. spincarpa from around the world.
The Southern Ocean records of the so-called cosmopolitan Leucothoe spinicarpa are doubtful and this material belong to several southern species. Krapp-Schickel and De Broyer (in prep.) are revising the Southern Ocean material (De Broyer et al. 2007). [details]
