Description Colonies are flat plates, often in overlapping tiers, and are sometimes columnar. Corallites are immersed to tubular, with calices 3-5 mm in diameter. Large polyps are frequently extended during the day. Colour: usually grey, sometimes brown. Abundance: common in a wide range of habitats and may form conspicuous colonies several metres in diameter (Veron, 1986). [details]
