Publication date The genus name Thrinacophora was mentioned for the first time in the Narrative of the Challenger Expedition by Ridley, 1885, and is assumed to be published by that date. No type species was named in Ridley's text but the reference to a specimen collected near Bahia fixed this as the later described T. funiformis. This is considered 'type species by monotypy' by Hooper (2002). [details]
