AB  - A brief ecologiacal survey of selected localities on the coasts of Kenya and Tanzania was made in 1962.  Five main belts of littoral organisms were distinguished.  The ecological significance of these belts is discussed and is shown that they do not entirely fit the currently accepted schemes  claimed to have universal applicability.
